Slow leak? Losing air overnight? Oxidation between the tire and rim is the #1 cause of mystery leaks. We clean, treat, and reseal the bead seat — no new tire needed.
If your tire keeps going flat even though there's no puncture, the culprit is almost always bead corrosion — a layer of oxidation that builds up between the tire's inner bead and the rim's bead seat. That gap lets air seep out slowly, causing you to pump up the same tire over and over.
At Footworks, we dismount the tire, fully clean and treat the bead seat area to remove all oxidation and rust, apply a professional bead sealer, and remount and balance the tire. The result is an airtight seal that holds — same as a brand-new rim.
Our bead corrosion repair process — fast, thorough, done right the first time.
We confirm the leak source — bead area, valve stem, or puncture — so we're treating the actual problem, not guessing.
The tire comes off the rim. We wire-brush and chemically treat the entire bead seat to remove oxidation, rust scale, and old sealant buildup.
A professional bead sealer is applied before the tire is remounted, creating an airtight barrier between rubber and metal.
We balance the wheel and pressure-test the bead seal before you drive off. If it's not holding air, we fix it before it leaves the shop.

The classic sign is a tire that slowly loses air — 5 to 10 PSI per week — with no puncture you can find. You may also notice it's always the same tire. Older vehicles and alloy wheels in humid climates are especially prone to it.
No — Fix-A-Flat and plugs address punctures, not bead leaks. The corrosion is a physical gap at the rim/tire interface. The only lasting fix is to dismount the tire, clean the bead seat, apply a proper bead sealer, and remount. Sealants make the mess worse and still don't fix the root cause.
Usually not. As long as the tire itself is in good shape, we can remount the existing tire after treating the rim. We'll let you know if the tire has any damage that would require replacement.
A properly cleaned and sealed bead seat should hold indefinitely under normal driving conditions. We back it with a 30-day workmanship warranty — if it leaks again from the same bead within 30 days, we fix it free.
Walk-ins welcome. Most bead corrosion jobs done same day. No appointment needed for an estimate.
